CUTIE meeting in Varaždin
Greetings from the charming town of Varaždin, Croatia!
From the 17th to the 19th of September the University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Organization and Informatics (FOI) welcomed an international team of academic collaborators for the CUTIE project meeting. The meeting brought together partners from prestigious institutions including the University of Akureyri from Iceland, the University of Galway from Ireland, AGH University of Krakow from Poland, the University of Murcia from Spain, the University of Copenhagen from Denmark, and Austria’s GTN Solutions. Together with FOI, this diverse team discussed how to best navigate the ongoing challenges in higher education through technology and collaboration.
For three days, partners dove into important discussions, focusing on how to effectively disseminate the project’s goals and results. The team explored their duties related to various work packages, ensuring that everyone was on track with the project’s timeline and objectives. It wasn’t just about administrative details, though – the meeting was filled with a spirit of cooperation and a shared belief in the transformative power of technology in education.
Along with the CUTIE project meeting, FOI also organized to the prestigious CECIIS (Central European Conference on Information and Intelligent Systems). The CUTIE partners didn’t miss the opportunity to contribute to this renowned conference. They were actively involved, participating in keynote speeches and organizing a thought-provoking workshop on "How to Improve Teachers’ Digital Skills in Co-Creation with Students?" The workshop sparked conversations about rethinking the traditional approach to digital literacy in education, emphasizing the importance of working closely with students to create more effective teaching strategies.
The conference also brought a moment of pride for the CUTIE team, as project coordinator Helena Sigurdardottir from university of Akureyri received the award for Best Project Pitch at the CECIIS conference. This recognition shined a spotlight on the potential of the CUTIE project to reshape how universities embrace digital skills.
As the CUTIE project moves ahead, the conversations and insights from Varaždin will drive the next stages of development. This meeting was a testament to the power of collaboration, innovation, and the shared vision of empowering educators and students alike through technology. The CUTIE project partners, united by their commitment to building stronger universities, left Varaždin not just with plans, but with a renewed energy to drive change across Europe’s higher education landscape.
